Perfectly Polished Tips 159 - Color Club Wild at Heart

Finally a collection that wasn't 3 seasons ago! Color Club gave me the chance to try out their Fall 2009 collection; Wild at Heart. This collection has an amazing line up for fall. All of the colors are perfect for the season and the variety of finishes is pretty great too.

Wild & Willing - a gorgeous foily duochrome. I could not capture the color good enough. Kind of pink, kind of gold. Very unique though.

On the Wild Side - a blue grey shade. It's on the metallic side which for me means brush strokes all over. The color is nice but I'm not crazy about the finish.

With Abandon - brown and gold glitter in a black base, one of my favorites from the collection.

Rule Breaker - a beautiful shimmery teal. I love the color of this polish but I wish it were a creme. There aren't enough easy to get teal cremes out there.

Wild at Heart - purple holo! CC's holos apply like butter, i love them.

Love Em Leave Em - pale gold holo, it's a pretty color but not on me.

Thoughts on the new water mark? Distracting? Covers up too much? A few months ago a photo on mine was used on Ebay with out my permission. I know watermarks won't really stop the thieves but I guess it's worth a shot.

Perfectly Polished Tips 158 - Color Club Femme Fatale

Femme Fatale was another spring 2009 collection that Color Club allowed me to try out. This collection was made up of black and white with two beautiful holos thrown in. I think the intention Color Club had for this collection was to bring back the french mani but make it not so boring. (I'm so not a french mani or pedi fan). There are two shades in this collection that would be great for layering and surprisingly Ooh La La applied well. I never have luck with white polish it's usually streaky or needs a million coats. Oh La La was a two coater as were the others.

There is one more polish in this collection, Where's the Soiree. It is a basic black creme however the formula was terrible. It was very thin and streaky. I tried for a good while to get it applied decently to photograph and I couldn't. I was disappointed because it's always great to have a basic black polish on hand. I use them often in frankening and they come in handy if you like to layer.

Perfectly Polished Tips 157 - Color Club Catwalk Queen

Many moons ago Color Club gave me the chance to sample their Catwalk Queen collection. Catwalk Queen is from Spring 2009 and is made up of mostly pale, dainty shades. The collection did have one gorgeous purple, which was the stand out shade for me as well as a holographic purple. Holos are hit and miss with me but Color Club makes awesome holo polishes. Color Club has a great brush and formula, I wasn't feeling this collection because I don't wear pale or sheer polishes very often. A couple of these would be great for layering though. Layering is another thing I don't do often, I should though.

I am not 100% sure if these are still available from the e-tailers, they should be though as the collections were not limited edition.

Oh what I would give to have those nails back. Cold weather is rough on my nails, it probably doesn't help that I'm not on top of moisturizing. Good thing I have photos stock piled LOL. I am afraid to post anything with my nails/cuticles in their current state.

Perfectly Polished Tips 144 - Color Club Electro Candy

Neons are quite popular for summer time and I was surprised to see so many companies jump on the neon train. Color Club is another favorite brand of mine. I love their formula and their brushes. I have tiny nail beds so if a brush is thin enough for me to polish with and not get polish all over my fingers I'm going to love it. This collection is made up of 6 shimmery neon colors. What I loved most about this collection was that each polish has a blue sheen to it. I thought that was pretty cool and because usually the neons I have come in contact with have been cremes. These polishes are on the sheer side, I only used 3 coats on the yellow but all of them could have used 3 coats. A trick I learned is to use an opaque white underneath the neons if you don't like the sheer look. Milani Soft White is a good one.

Tangerine Scream - a bright orange w/ blue shimmer. It is truly orange not coral as my photo shows.

Ultra Violet -a bright shimmery purple, this photo shows the blue shimmer

Volt of Light - a super bright yellow, it is extremely sheer

What a Shock - bright kiwi green

Pure Energy - bright blue

Electro Candy - bright pink

Electro Candy is available now.

Perfectly Polished Tips 107 - Franken Polish Extravaganza

Every now and then I get a lemming for a polish that I either cannot find or doesn't exist. When this happens I turn to my stash to see what I can combine. I try to use cheaper polishes or ones I don't love to franken though. Sometimes I will sacrifice (I used some Zulu once) the favorites though. Over the next few days I will be sharing my personal home creations. This polish is probably going to be my NOTWeekend. I already need a break from using up my untrieds.

artificial lighting.

To make this polish I combined: China Glaze Shower Together, Color Club Naughtycal Navy, China Glaze Tinsel, and Pure Ice Oh Baby. I don't have exact measurements because I am a messy franken-er. All of the polishes should be very easy to find.

Perfectly Polished Tips 94 - China Glaze Tinsel

Tinsel is another polish from the China Glaze Sleigh Ride set, I posted pictures of a couple months ago from a sweet MUA'er. I also said I am not falling for the hype, but I did and I think I'm glad. Tinsel is a silver version of Emerald Sparkle but not as intense. It's kind of hard to describe, I don't think Tinsel's base is clear but it's not silver, if that makes sense. This polish is not opaque in two coats, it might be better to layer with. I've only tried it alone so far.

Here is a comparison with Color Club Sex Symbol:

As you can see Tinsel's glitter is much finer, easier to remove too!

Head 2 Toe Beauty is showing all three of the sleigh ride polishes in stock right now. Sally Beauty was also suppose to have the collection but it depends on your town's store.

Perfectly Polished Tips 85 - China Glaze Emerald Sparkle

Ok, I know I said that I wasn't going to cave and buy this polish but I did. I'm so happy that I did too. I think I found a green that I will actually wear. China Glaze Emerald Sparkle is basically a green version of Ruby Pumps. It's a deep green glitter in a green base. It was opaque with one coat but I used two for my swatch.

It has so many layering possibilities. In the above picture I put one coat over two coats of Superstar Gucci Green. I also want to try it over black, and Chelsea Psycho Green. I wonder how it would look over a teal like China Glaze Rodeo Fanatic.

I was curious about how it compared to Color Club's Object of Envy. Both bottles are pictured above and as you can see Emerald Sparkle's glitter is finer and the over all color is daker. The big thing between the two is that Emerald Sparkle is in a green base and Object of Envy's base is clear.

Here I have (l-r) Object of Envy over Gucci Green, Object of Envy alone, and Emerald Sparkle.

Emerald Sparkle is such a pretty color and not at all too holiday feeling. I think I would be able to wear this anytime. It's making me wonder if I should get Gussied Up Green. This polish was released last month but went out of stock immediately. It is up on ebay for a ridiculous amount of money but can also be found in random beauty supply stores. If you are a member of Make Up Alley send a message to GiggleMommy and ask her to add you to the wish list. I believe that members of the nail board have already helped some where around 50 ladies who weren't able to find this polish. The same goes for Tinsel. I believe some Sally Beauty stores were to receive it as well but it will (or already did) go quick.

Perfectly Polished Tips 82 - Pink Creme Pic Spam

I love my pinks, and being that it is still BCA month I figured I would pull them out and share. As I was doing that I discovered; A) I have waaaayyyyy too many pinks and B) most of them are the same exact color. So this is a pic spam and dupe alert post. I have another too but they are pinks with glitter and shimmer, that post will follow shortly.

Essie Steppin' Out and OPI Pink of Hearts (07 version). These polishes are very close in color, the Essie is more opaque though.

Lippmann Collection Constant Craving and Color Club Yachty Yadda. The Lippmann is slightly more purple in real life, but they are very close.

OPI You're A Pisa Work and OPI Koala Bear-y, very similar KB is slightly darker.

OPI Strawberry Margarita, Orly Butterflies, OPI Elephatasic Pink, Color Club Lady Like. Strawberry Margarita is a hair darker than the rest and Butterflies is a jelly.

China Glaze Rose Among Thorns and Color Club Electric Coral. The Color Club is a bit lighter and brighter.

OPI My Throne for a Cranberry Scone and CND Regal Revenge. RR is pinker however being that My Throne can be hard to find I would say it's a good alternative.

OPI All That Razz-berry, OPI My Throne for a Cranberry Scone, and CND Regal Revenge. ATR is more well raspberry colored, however I just wanted to picture it here.

OPI I'm India Mood for Love, OPI Don't Know Beets Me, China Glaze Make an Entrance. The China Glaze is darker in real life but the other two are basically the same.

CND Hot Pop Pink and Orly Basket Case. The CND may be a little brighter but these two are very close.

Color Club Fast Paced and OPI Elephantasic Pink - basically dupes.

OPI Charged Up Cherry and Nocti Kiss & Tell. The Nocti is a smidge brighter and little more orange.

If you would like anything swatched please feel free to ask. I would have loved to swatch all of these but it would have taken forever. I do plan on swatching my entire stash eventually just not tonight. ;)

Perfectly Polished Tips 77 - Breast Cancer Awareness Month

As most of you know October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. Many cosmetic companies offer products in which part or all of the profit from the product goes to research for breast cancer. I think it's a great way to help those in need. The offical color is pink, I have been sporting a pink manicure this week, CND Paris In Pink. I won't be posting pictures though because it didn't dry in time for bed and is full of sheet marks. I've been too lazy to change though. So here are a few of the nail polish companies that are supporting the cause this year.

OPI Pink of Hearts 2 (last year's was Pink of Hearts). OPI created this polish to help support Susan G. Komen for the Cure. OPI also plans on donating $25,000 to the foundation this year. I believe Siobhan over at the Nailphile posted pictures of this color.

China Glaze has released this three pack of pinks with part of the proceeds going to research. The colors are Rich & Famous, St. Tropez, and Temptation Carnation.

This year Essie has released Pink is the Link, there is also a Pink is the Link gift set which includes a mini pink nail file and a mini bottle of Essie's Sensitivity base coat. 10% of sales from both products will be donated to Living Beyond Breast Cancer

Color Club's mini Colors for the Cure include four of the companies best selling pinks; Translucent, Bashful, Angels N’ Pink, and In Bloom. All of the proceeds will go to a local breast cancer chapter that is located in New York. Stephanie over at the Polish Addict swatched these a few days ago.

Companies like Nubar and Jessica are doing promotions as well for BCA month. You can check the nail polish ones as well as others out at NailsMag.com. The links at the end of the descriptions don't seem to be working, there is a lot of information already there though.

Perfectly Polished Tips 63 - I've Got the Blues

Okay, so I'm trying to find a new look for my site. I'm not sure how I like this lay out but it will do until I have so more time to update. If there is anything you readers would like to see here please don't hesitate to ask! I'm open to pretty much all requests and suggestions.

Anyways, blue nails. It wasn't until I found my love for polish that I obsessively felt the need to check the finger tips of all women. Now the first thing I look for in pictures and in real life is nail polish color. I haven't seen any cool manicures in real life unfortunately. Some celebrities such as Rihanna and Christina Aguliera are known for their wild color choices while others such as Gossip Girl's Leighton Meester stick to neutrals.

I was so drawn to Xtina's nails in this picture that I didn't even notice the horror that is the rest of her. I'm not liking this transformation, honestly I miss her Dirrty days. Anyways, here she is wearing a bright blue polish which actually compliments her purple clutch and maybe the shirt. I instantly thought of China Glaze's Blue Sparrow which I will have to post pictures of soon. It's a neon with amazing glitter. Last year I would have never even considered wearing blue or glitter but now bring it on! If you aren't a glitter fan you could try something a little softer such as Color Club Jeweltone Blue or NYX Titanic. For cremes check out the post I made about China Glazes Bahama Blues collection. Bermuda Breakaway would be perfect.

Perfectly Polished Tips 25 - Color Club Dance to the Musique

This is Color Clubs second fall collection. It is full of deep, highly pigmented shimmery goodness. All of these polished applied beautifully and are each full of gorgeous shimmer. I was very impressed with the color choices for this collection. Each of my swatches are two coats of color - no base coat or top coat. So far I've only worn Groove Thang and it wore well as usual for Color Club.

After Hours is a lovely smoldering grey, this picture didn't capture the shimmer well but it's there. I like this because the shimmer is silver only, it doesn't change like Lippmann's Hit Me With Your Best Shot.

This is my favorite of the bunch. For some reason I'm on a big purple kick lately and this fits the craving perfectly. It glows and has some pink shimmer which my camera did not pick up. I have a feeling that I will be reaching for this one a lot.

Feel the Beat is a nice pumpkin-y orange with pink shimmer. I'm not an orange wearer, I don't know if I can pull this off but this one might be saved for toes only. Please excuse the smudged pinky.

Groove Thang is another favorite. It's a dark blackened purple with shimmer. It was really hard for me to capture the color. I must have taken over 100 pictures and even in full sunlight I wasn't able to get it. In this picture you can kinda see the color.

Slow Jam is my least favorite. It's a nice brown/berry color with gold shimmer. I'm just not a brown wearer. It is very lovely for fall though.

Velvet Rope is a orangy red with fine gold shimmer. I am on the fence about all shimmery reds, sometimes I love them, others not so much. I much perfer a vampy red creme, or something along the lines of OPI Got the Blues for Red.

Another winning collection from Color Club in my opinion. I am in love with a lot of the fall colors that were put out this year. This collection will not dissapoint! It also came with Vitabase base coat, I've only used it once so far, so that review is for another day!

Special thanks to Color Club.
